The Word

The Word of God is not found in books, no matter how holy. Those are the words of men, inspired, on fire, reaching higher, but by men written, rewritten, translated, appended, addended, interpreted, sometimes changed beyond recognition, not to be ignored, but the words of men. To find the word of God, go outside. Look up at the stars at night, the clouds in the day, listen to the wind in the trees, the murmuring water of a river, the rumble of the ocean. Look at the faces of your fellow women and men. The word of God is written in every crack and line, in the depth of their eyes, in the palms of their hands. Look at the other people, your fellow earthlings of all species. Inspect the leaves of trees. Listen to the music of the stars. The Word of God is contained in every cell, in every breeze. Listen. Look. It is all around you. Fall down in wonder. Dance with the glory. And then look back at yourself in awe, for you, too, are the Word of God.
